Taking a view of the big lake while eating dinner is a common past time for locals and tourists alike this time of year. While there’s no denying that many lakeside establishments have beautiful views that rival their culinary fair, the view from the Castle is hard to top – literally.

Rising high above Lake Winnipesaukee, the Lucknow Estate was built by Tom and Olive Plant in 1913-1914 as a secluded estate tucked into the Ossipee Mountains as a rare example of Arts and Crafts architecture in New England which boasted some of the newest technologies of the day.

For a truly unforgettable experience, do yourself a favor and book a table at The Carriage House Restaurant at Castle in the Clouds this season for AcousDSCN5368tic Night on Mondays or Jazz at Sunset on Thursdays. Tickets ($10 per person) are required, so call in advance. With live music, reasonable prices, and the lake and mountains laid down at your feet – you won’t want the night to end.
